Osizweni woman appears in court for falsely accusing brothers of rape

Police in KwaZulu-Natal are warning the public there are serious consequences for reporting false cases.

A woman has appeared in court for allegedly falsely accusing two men of raping her.
Police say the 28-year-old woman claimed she was attacked by knife-wielding brothers in her house in Osizweni last Friday.
KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the siblings were arrested.

"Following an intensive investigation that was conducted by the investigating officer, it was established that the complainant lied under oath. Two brothers were then released.
"A case of perjury was opened for investigation at Osizweni SAPS. The 28-year-old woman was charged for perjury.
"She appeared in the Madadeni Magistrates Court on Monday, 14 February 2022. She was remanded in custody pending the next court date."
