Organisers expect at least 50 000 maidens at annual Reed Dance

As many as 50 000 maidens are taking part in this year's Reed Dance ceremony.

Young women from KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Gauteng and eSwatini have made their way to King Goodwill Zwelithini’s eNyokeni Palace in Nongoma for this weekend's Umkhosi woMhlanga.
Prince Thulani Zulu says they have boosted security around the Zulu Royal House.
More celebrations for the King, who turned 70 earlier this year, have also been planned.
"We will have the maidens dancing and celebrating. We don't just come here for the reeds. There are some educational opportunities as well," Zulu said.
Meanwhile, KZN Transport's has inspected the buses that will be taking maidens to and from this year's ceremony.
