Order denying motorists licence discs, card renewals temporarily suspended
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
Motorists have been urged to make use of a decision to temporarily suspend an order blocking some drivers from renewing licence discs and cards.
The Road Traffic Infringement Agency says it's looking into allegations by thousands of motorists that they were unable to renew their licences due to unpaid traffic fines.
Many claim they were never notified of the fines.

The agency’s Monde Mkalipi says drivers cannot be refused renewal due to outstanding fines unless they have been converted to enforcement orders.
"In terms of reinstating the enforcement orders is going to be dependent on the outcome of the recommendations of the probe that we are going to undertake.
"So, we don't have a definite time that definitely the process of investigation that we said we are going to undertake it is going to provide pointers as to when perhaps should those enforcement orders be reinstated, but above all, we don't want to preempt what will be the recommendations of the internal probe will look like."
