Online petition to boycott SABC garners 700 signatures
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A community advocacy organisation is calling for major advertisers to boycott the SABC.

Amandla Mobi wants advertisers to consider taking their business elsewhere following recent developments at the national broadcaster.
These include the suspension of several journalists, a controversial decision to ban footage of violent protests and the resignation of acting CEO Jimi Matthews.
The organisation's Koketso Moeti says an online petition already has 700 signatures.
"Advertisers are one of the biggest generators of revenue for the SABC and for us we are saying that if businesses are ethical, if businesses are saying they support the public knowing the right to know it's important that they actually set up and jump in on this and say that we cannot ethically be advertising on a public broadcaster that is censoring news," she said.
The SABC says it will challenge an ICASA ruling that it reverse its decision to ban footage of violent protests.
