One killed, two wounded in suspected cash heist in Durban CBD

One person was killed and two others wounded in a suspected cash-in-transit heist in the Durban CBD on Monday morning.

Details surrounding the incident were still sketchy by mid-morning, but it was understood that two security officers came under fire on Etna Lane near Julius Nyerere Avenue.

Spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Services Garrith Jamieson says the officers suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were left in critical condition:
"They were stabilised on scene by Advance Life Paramedics before being rushed through to a nearby hospital for the urgent care that they required. One person believed to be an alleged suspect also sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and unfortunately showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene."
