One killed, 18 hurt in taxi accidents
Authorities are investigating two accidents last night in which one person was killed and 18 others injured.
The crashes both involved minibus taxis and happened in Tweedie and Pietermaritzburg.
In Tweedie, the minibus rolled on the N3 highway, leaving one person dead and three injured.
In Pietermarizburg, Fifteen people were hurt when the driver of the taxi they were travelling also lost control and rolled on Old Greytown Road in Northdale.
ER24's Chitra Bodasing says the vehicle landed on its roof.
"When ER24 paramedics and those from other services arrived on the scene, they found some passengers next to the taxi and others still in the taxi. Some of the passengers still in the vehicle were crawling out. The patients were assessed and they sustained minor to moderate injuries," she said.
It's not known what led to the crashes in both accidents.
