Officials work to repair John Ross Highway
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
It will take about 10 weeks to fix the sinkhole on John Ross Highway between Empangeni and Richards Bay on the North Coast.

KZN Transport MEC, Mxolisi Kaua has appealed to motorists to please be patient while repairs are being done.
He's also urged drivers to obey the rules of the road while vehicles are diverted off the Eastbound carriageway.
"When we open the Westbound carriageway, we are not going to open the entire lane because there are sections where we are still conducting some assessments so that we ascertain the safety of our community and motorists," he says.

Officials were confident the westbound carriageway would be reopened yesterday but that stretch of the roadway remains closed.
The Department of Transport in KZN have lead a delegation of engineers and experts to the massive sinkhole on the highway.
