Thursday confirmed that board chairperson Ernest Khosa has decided
to take a leave of absence from work.
It's days after the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse released a report which implicates Khosa, the SACP and Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande in corruption and financial mismanagement at the scheme.
NSFAS spokesperson Ismail Mnisi says Khosa announced during a special meeting where board members met to discuss the scheme’s state of readiness for 2024.
"During the meeting, the board chairperson, Mr Ernest Khosa, tabled a notice of a leave of absence to enable the board to deal with all allegations against him as contained in the recordings distributed by the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse.
