NSFAS application process officially open
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme has officially opened its application process for the 2024 academic year.
Applications will be open until 31 January.
Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande says the financial aid scheme will continue to fund students directly despite criticism over the implementation of the new payment system.

Anger over glitches in the new system led to protests by students at several universities around the country.
"We undertook forensic investigation some years ago, and we found that there was just a lot of corruption that’s why we decided on a student funding model.
"Let students apply directly to NSFAS we don't intend to change that; we think it has improved a lot in terms of better funding of students and distribution of these resources."
