Nzimande urges NSFAS beneficiaries to register with new payment system
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande has urged all NSFAS beneficiaries who are not yet registered with the new payment system to urgently do so.

This year, the financial aid scheme introduced four new service providers and a new payment system where allowances and transactions are made through the scheme's bank card.
There have been complaints from many students about the new system.

But Nzimande has defended it saying it's in place to make the payment time shorter.
The minister has also pleaded with citizens to protect the scheme from those trying to defraud it.
"We urge South Africa especially the majority of the working class and poor families to protect NSFAS for the sake of their own dependents and not allow NSFAS to be abused."
