NSPCA could lay charges over dog shooting video

The NSPCA says it's considering taking action against a north coast deputy mayor and his bodyguard.

The society's Meg Wilson's been commenting on a video doing the rounds on social media.
"The NSPCA continues to investigate this matter. We are looking at all angles of the case and will be laying charges against the mayor and the bodyguard for shooting the dog and leaving it to suffer for eating his livestock," she says.
Mthonjaneni Municipality's Philani Ntombela is seen in the clip along with his bodyguard who shoots the animal.
The dog which is tied to a fence - yelps in pain - before collapsing.

The animal had apparently been attacking livestock in the community.
Children were among those who witnessed the shooting.
"There is no sane adult that would want a situation whereby incidents of this nature are happening in full view of children. The law enforcement agencies need to move with speed so that the investigation is conducted and If it really happened, the law must take its course," he says.
Meanwhile, the IFP says it'll support any action taken against Ntombela - a party member.
