Nongoma storm damage cost yet to be established
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Disaster management officials say they are yet to establish the cost of the damage caused by a storm that ripped through Nongoma, in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Heavy rains battered the area over the weekend, damaging several houses, infrastructure and schools.
Some residents were forced to leave their homes.

The town’s Head of Disaster Management, Andreas Lushaba, says so far, they have only assessed about 30 per cent of the damage.
He says once the assessments have been completed, engineers will be dispatched to calculate the cost.
"That is when they are going to decide how much is going to be needed to fix the infrastructure that is damaged. So Saturday, we had a problem that there was no network in the whole area, but now it is up and running."
