The City has condemned recent attacks on municipal infrastructure.

In one of the latest incidents, a water tanker was petrol bombed in Umlazi, south of Durban.

eThekwini says the driver of the water tanker was forced out of the vehicle on Friday.

The tanker was then petrol bombed – despite being used to deliver the resource to communities in the area.

Officials are offering a R10 000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of those involved. Several municipal depots and Sizakala Centres were also disrupted last week. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to crack down on the anarchy and ensure those responsible are brought to book.

eThekwini says those who want to protest must do so within the confines of the law. City officials met on Friday and resolved that disruptions to services, the halting of development projects and the storming of offices will not be tolerated.
