No tension in Newlands West

A Newlands West woman says there is no tension between locals and foreigners in the area.
This after an Ethiopian national's shop was torched on Thursday night, leaving the man who was inside at the time, seriously hurt.

"The police came and he was taken to the hospital. He is still in hospital now. He is a very nice guy, whenever you have nothing and you go to him, he will give you and you pay him at the end of the month. The community is very happy with him," she said.
Police are investigating charges of attempted murder and malicious damage to property following the attack.
No arrests have been made.
