No mass rally for ANC next year: Jesse Duarte

The African National Congress will not have a mass rally at it's annual January 8 celebrations amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

ANC Deputy Secretary-General Jessie Duarte made the announcement today, saying it's in the interest of preserving lives.
The ruling party will be celebrating its 109th year of existence in Ga-Mphahlele, Limpopo - with a maximum of 100 attendees.
Duarte says there'll be strict Covid-19 protocols.

"The event will take place under strict protocols in line with the COVID-19 regulations. This includes wearing masks at all times, and application of hand sanitizers, as well as social distancing.
She said 100 people will be in the main field and they will connect to all provinces by video link to ensure that regulations are not undermined in any way.
"The normal movement of busses to provinces, hundreds of people coming to one single venue will not be happening this year."
