‘No major incidents’ in KZN following shutdown threats
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
There were no major incidents in KwaZulu-Natal or the elsewhere in the country following threats of a national shutdown on Friday.

In a statement, the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NatJoints) says roads were blocked in Isipingo, south of Durban with burning tyres but police moved swiftly to respond to clear the scene.
It also thanked local businesses and community members who worked together in dispersing a crowd that had gathered outside a shopping complex in Hammarsdale.
“Overall, the NatJoints is pleased that the country is stable and people's freedom of movement has not been prohibited,” says national police spokesperson Athenda Mathe.
“The NatJoints through its ProvJoints will continue to ensure multi-disciplinary deployments and the execution of operational plans.”
