Mercedes-Benz recalls over 13 000 vehicles in SA

Mercedes-Benz are recalling almost a million vehicles worldwide because of a potential problem with the braking system.
The recall will also affect local owners, with the company recalling some 13 000 vehicles.
The National Consumer Commission has urged consumers in possession of Mercedes-Benz model series 164 and R-Class model series 251 to return the vehicles to the supplier.
The commission's Thezi Mabuza says a total of 13 159 vehicles are affected in South Africa.
“We understand that the defect may lead to a possible brake failure which may lead to accidents and injuries. The affected models were manufactured between 2006 and 2019.
“We urge consumers not to drive these vehicles but contact the manufacturer for more details,” says Mabuza.
