‘No frustration’ as Lechesa Tsenoli prepares to step down
Updated | By Mamelisa Ngcongo
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Lechesa Tsenoli, says the time has come to try his hand at something else after 25 years in Parliament.

Tsenoli has confirmed he won’t return to parliament after the elections on 29 May.
"I have been serving in this position for a long time; it would be two terms, and I have been in the sector for 30 years. I decided I wanted to get involved in other areas. A decision will be finalised by the organisations I belong to, the ANC and the SACP."
Tsenoli was appointed acting speaker last month after the resignation of Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula due to corruption charges.
He has dismissed any notion that his decision to move on was due to frustration.

Tsenoli says he’s currently in the process of helping MPs improve the quality of work.
"Currently , I chair the South African Parliamentary Institute, and parliament in the nine provinces created this body. So I am hoping that the work we have identified is taken forward so that incoming MPs must prioritise their studies individually but as committees that they are going to belong to."
