A community leader in
Newlands East, north of Durban, says they need more manpower to fight
crime.
A seven-year-old boy was shot and killed on Milarina Drive on Friday.
A man is said to have approached the child and his friends on the street.
The boy was then shot and rushed to hospital where he later died.
Police are investigating a case of murder. No arrests have been made.
Local CPF chairperson Allan Peterson says the police station there is overwhelmed and understaffed.

He's called on community members to take back their streets and report criminal activity.
"We do understand we have certain issues in the area due to speculation of the drug war or turf war, but regarding this child getting shot, it's a major shock for the community.
"It doesn't make sense, this family doesn't seem the type that is around any form of turf fighting or drug relations. This is a huge speculation, so huge investigations need to fall into place."
