New technology set to help eThekwini detect water leaks

eThekwini officials say plans to procure a new piece of equipment to assist the municipality in detecting water leaks across the city are at an advanced stage.

Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda says the Satellite Leak Detector will provide solutions to other ongoing water challenges.
eThekwini's Msawakhe Mayisela says they hope to see a reduction in wastage from leaks.

"We could be the first city in the country to have this technology and we are very excited about it in light of the water that we are losing as a result of leaks that are exacerbated by illegal connections.
"We are therefore appealing to our people to continue to conserve water but also to alert the city whenever they come across water leaks in their areas."
