Drivers belonging to platforms like Uber and Bolt will demonstrate against rising fuel prices, insufficient commission, hijackings and maintenance costs, among other issues.

In Durban, drivers will park their vehicles at the old drive-in and then make their way to King Dinuzulu Park ahead of their march to City Hall.

The South African E-hailing Association says they'll remain offline until Thursday.

Spokesperson Sithembiso Mgwaba says operators are tired of being ignored by e-hailing companies.

"It has affected our lifes a lot. We are now looking at repossession rates. A lot of drivers have had their vehicles reposessed and most of us are now blacklisted. It is very difficult to sustain this business, when you're in this business it's like you are donating with your assets."
