New NDPP should operate without fear or favour: expert
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
An analyst says South Africa's new National Director of Public Prosecutions needs to be a leader who will not be afraid to take on the president.
"I think we are looking for someone who is not going to have any fear or favour of anybody, who can even prosecute our president. I think it is essential to get somebody who is independent," political analyst, Protas Madlala said.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will let the country know later this year who he thinks should get the top post.
He is considering the names of five candidates including former KwaZulu-Natal prosecutions boss, Shamila Batohi and Simphiwe Mlotshwa, a former acting director in the same office.
