KZN candidate says NPA needs anti-corruption task team
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
One of KZN's former director of public prosecutions says respect for the rule of law and a ruthless approach to corruption are two of the things she would concentrate on if she was appointed National Director of Public Prosecutions.
Shamilla Batohi, who also worked at the International Criminal Court in the Hague, was the last candidate interviewed for the post, yesterday.
"If we do not respect the rule of law - the country is on a slippery slope. So, it's hugely important that the rule of law is respected at all times."

Batohi suggested the establishment of an investigating directorate is to tackle corruption.
"The National Prosecuting Authority Act still makes provision for the creation of investigating directorates. This is something that will give confidence to the public - if the national directorate creates an investigating directorate dealing specifically with corruption and have a multi-disciplinary task team."
