Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
The ANC's new leadership in eThekwini has promised to unify the notoriously fractured region in the runup to the party's national conference in December.
It's held its first media briefing in Inanda following their regional conference earlier this month.
Regional secretary Musa Nciki said the new regional leadership will be actively recruiting members.
"We'll have to rebuild our MKVA in order to deal with the welfare of our military veterans. We will improve service delivery, especially in delivering water and electricity and ensuring the supply of energy.
"We will strengthen our working relationship with all political parties in order to have a stable council."

He also addressed the step aside policy, which affects the new chairperson Zandile Gumede.
The former eThekwini mayor faces charges of fraud and corruption.
"Delegates, using their democratic right enriched in the ANC constitution, elected comrade Zandile Gumede despite the step aside policy of the ANC national executive committee.
"In this regard, we wish to indicate that comrade Thembo Ntuli will act on behalf of the chairperson and the secretariat will be dealing with the finance committee to carry out the responsibilities of the treasurer since they are on step aside."
