Nersa hearings: NUMSA to argue against tariff increase
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Metalworkers union, NUMSA, says it'll present a submission on Friday, objecting to Eskom's request for a tariff hike of 15% over the next three years.
"If Eskom grants an increase, it will be a disaster for majority of people," Numsa's Phakamile Hlubi-Majola said.
The National Energy Regulator's been receiving feedback from concerned citizens, community-based groups and unions - among others - at public hearings across the country.
Numsa's Phakamile Hlubi-Majola says the working class will suffer the most.
"This is the case particularly when we consider the low growth outlook that has been predicted for this country. It is not in our interest for Eskom to be granted an increase. We will give a detailed submission to Nersa about what are all the concrete ways Eskom can turn itself around," she said.
