Eskom details challenges of coal-fired power plants

Eskom says some of the challenges it's dealing with include lower than expected revenue and a drop ininvestor activity which is why it's asking for a 15% electricity price hike - for the next three years.
A representative has been trying to convince the National Energy Regulator that Eskom to give Eskom what it's asking for.
The utility's Dan Mashigo's been speaking at the Durban ICC on day one of public hearings into the request.
NGOs, community-based groups and other organisations will have their say.
Mashigo says major financial challenges are making it difficult for Eskom to achieve its power supply goals.
