Neighbours tried to save elderly KZN fire victims: MEC

A team of counsellors has been sent to Mandeni in northern KZN where two elderly women died in a fire.

Eighty-year-old Switty Mhlongo and her 68-year-old helper, Sizani Dube were in Mhlongo's home in KwaShepisi when the blaze started on Friday night.

Mhlongo had been living with a disability.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
On Wednesday, Social Development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza visited the victims' families and says a neighbour tried to save the two women.
