Nehawu considering revised Social Development offer
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) has taken a revised offer from the Department of Social Development to its members for consideration.
The union received this offer following a meeting on Friday.
Nehawu's Deputy General Secretary, Zola Saphetha, says they will be meeting with Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini tomorrow.
"We are meeting with the Minister at 2.00pm on areas where we feel there are bottom lines that need to be finalised," says Saphetha.
Amongst others, the union is demanding a wage increase of at least 6,5 percent, as well as danger pay for social workers.
Saphetha says the revised offer is not far from what they are demanding.
"This is a revised offer from the initial offer that they gave us on Monday (last week). This is the latest one which is not far from what we want. We will have to go back to test the views of our members before considering any moves," says Sephetha.
