Cabinet has yet again approved the extension of the national state of disaster to next month.

This was confirmed by Cabinet on Thursday following its weekly meeting.
Cabinet approved the extension of the National State of Disaster on COVID-19 until 15 June 2021.
Speaking during her department's budget vote in Parliament, Cooperative Governance Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said the war against Covid-19 has not yet been won.

She urged South Africans to continue with non-pharmaceutical interventions.
"There is an ever-present danger that the rate of infection may rapidly increase. Even as we roll out the mass vaccination programme, vulnerabilities are high, particularly amongst the young.
"More than ever before, we must adhere to the protocols of masking, washing hands, sanitizing and maintaining a social distance."
It's been over a year since a state of disaster was first declared by the government due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since then, over 1.6 million people have been infected with Covid-19, while close to 55 000 others have succumbed to the deadly virus.
