More than 3 000 new Covid-19 cases across SA

South Africa showed a total of 3 221 new cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday evening.
The latest report by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize shows the total number of infections to 1 605 252.
The minister says 44 people lost their lives to Covid-19 related complications, which brings the total number of deaths to 55 012.

"The number of vaccinations completed under the Sisonke Protocol as at 18.30 today is 455 169," says Mkhize.
Gauteng has 6 712 active case numbers of the virus, which is the highest across the country.
As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 605 252.
