Thirty-one year old Ntombifuthi Mbhele says she was in her home in Madadeni on Saturday night when she heard a loud noise.

"I felt something that hit me on the head. When I checked my head - I was bleeding. When we checked to see what had hit me - it had fallen to the table. We then saw that it was a bullet. We tried to get help and called the ambulance."

Speaking to Newswatch from her hospital bed where she is recovering - Mbhele said she had no idea where the bullet came from, and had been unable to find out.

"I think it was an accident. The way the police explained to me - they said when you pull the trigger the bullet can go anywhere. One can't say who will get shot - they've had cases similar to mine. It came through the roof, hit me and fell onto the floor. I'm lucky it didnot go through my head," she said.
