N3 at Van Reenen's Pass remains closed
Updated | By Portia Cele
The N3 at Van Reenans Pass remains closed, with the traffic backlog now stretching over 8km.
Dozens of trucks have stopped on both the Durban and Jobhannesburg-bound carriageways in a protest this morning.
Traffic heading towards Johannesburg is being diverted via the N11 - through Newcastle and the R74 - near Bergville.
Those coming to Durban are being diverted at the R74 via Ladysmith.
"We decided to close Tugela Plaza because we cannot let traffic go through the Plaza knowing that when it comes to Van Reenan - it has totally been closed to traffic. Meanwhile, we are diverting traffic. It's not going to be an hour or two, it's going to take quite some time," the RTI's Zinhle Mngomezulu said.
