N3 truck crash: Van Reenen's Pass re-opened
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Authorities are investigating a fatal truck crash on Van Reenen's Pass this morning.
The busy route had to be closed for about six hours after two trucks collided before one of the vehicles burst into flames.
One person was killed and two others seriously hurt.
The N3 Toll Concession's Con Roux says the roadway has since been reopened in both directions but motorists can still expect delays as the backlog clears.
"All vehicles are going through the scene where the crash took place earlier this morning. The vehicles have been recovered but clean-up has been completed. As far as the road surface is concerned, normal operations have resumed," he says.
Meanwhile, 19 people have been hurt after a truck and a taxi collided at the intersection of Dr AB Xuma and Samora Machel streets in central Durban earlier.

Rescue Care's Ceron Lennox says passengers from both vehicles sustained injuries.
''People who were in the taxi as well as some of the passengers from the truck have been injured and were treated on scene and then transported to the various hospitals around Durban for the necessary care that they needed. Multiple ambulances were called to the scene," she says.
In a separate crash, at least 15 school children were hurt when the taxi they were travelling in crashed in Isipingo - south of the city.
