N3 traffic picks up ahead of long weekend

Traffic volumes on the N3 are expected to increase from today as holidaymakers cash in on the long weekend.
The N3 Toll Concession's Con Roux expects at least 1000 vehicles per hour to begin entering KZN.
Roux says the concession is not expecting elevated incoming traffic volumes at the weekend.

"On the return trip on Monday - we find a concentration of traffic heading back to Johannesburg," he said.
Meanwhile, Durban Metro's Steve Middleton says officers will be conducting roadblocks throughout the city.
"Last weekend alone, we had ten roadblocks. This weekend, it will more than likely increase because of the long weekend specifically," he said.
