MUT pays out backdated staff salaries

Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) says a salary increase of 5%, backdated to the beginning of the year, will be paid to staff members.
The MUT's Azwi Mufamadi says a deal was finally reached after weeks of protest action at the Umlazi institution.

The adjustments kick in on Friday.
"They wanted a salary increase - we eventually reached an agreement of 5.08 percent.
"As you might know, the salary increase was supposed to be implemented in January so what the staff members are getting is all the increases that they should have got from January."
