Dlamini's car was taken during the ordeal. A woman who'd been travelling in the vehicle with his was also hurt - but she managed to escape.

Police are investigating whether there is a possible link between his murder and the killing of four members of the Mzila family in Umlazi's G section - where Dlamini's car was found.

"One of his sisters who saw him laying on the ground at the school across the road, came home and woke me. When we got there, I shook him to see if he could talk, so we could see what happened to him. But there was so much blood, it was just flowing. That's when we knew he was in a bad situation," she said.
