NPA KZN spokesperson, Natasha Kara says Mariemuthoo had been expected to apply for bail in the Verulam Magistrate's Court today.
"The accused abandoned his application for bail and the matter was remanded to 29 April for further investigation, which means the accused will remain in custody."
Tongaat councillor and friend, Dolly Munien says Thathoni's family is not coping.
"No one is going to them the love they got because she was a pillar even though she was married; she did everything for her parents."
