Multiple crashes mark start of festive season
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
There’ve been more tragic crashes on KZN’s roads this weekend. In the early hours of this morning, a man was killed and nine other people hurt, including a baby, in a double-car crash on the N2, past Stanger.
Paramedics were called to the scene, near New Gelderland, and placed the critically hurt man on advanced life support. But he tragically died a short while later.
The infant was among three people who’d suffered serious injuries and taken to hospital. It’s not known at this stage what caused the crash.
Near the Bergville Toll Plaza yesterday, four people died when their car overturned.
ER24's Werner Vermaak says a child was among those killed.
"There was nothing paramedics could do for the four killed and they were declared dead on scene. It is believed the family was on their way from Johannesburg to the Eastern Cape when the incident occurred," Vermaak said.
Vermaak says local authorities are investigating.
One person was killed when a minibus taxi and car collided outside the Ballito Lifestyle Center, also yesterday.
