Multi-Party Charter ‘ready to form new government’
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The eleven parties in the Multi-Party Charter For South Africa have encouraged South Africans to vote in this year's general elections.
They held a joint registration event at the Johannesburg City Hall on Thursday.
IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa said 2024 is the moment for South Africans to change the country's trajectory by unseating what he described as a failed government.

"For the first time in 30 years, the ruling party is likely to lose the majority. If that happens, a coalition of parties stands ready to form a new government.
"We have not linked to each other randomly, but we have carefully chosen the people we will work with, ensuring that the government we form is underpinned by values, principles and solutions that the IFP champions."
DA leader John Steenhuisen said the charter is committed to bringing change in South Africa.
"A clear message that we are tired as South Africans of unemployment, we are tired of corruption, we are tired of broken promises, and we are tired of politicians who don't care about the people and only care about themselves."
This weekend's voter registration is the final one before the proclamation of the election date.
Over 23-thousand voting stations across the country will be open from 8 am to 5 pm on both days.
Thursday also marks the last day of inmate registration across the country's correctional facilities.
