Shadrack Gutto believes it would be too radical and volatile for the military to call for Mugabe to leave the country.

The statement follows confirmation by Zimbabwe's military that it's detained some "criminals" in Mugabe's government.

The army took control this week in a dispute over who would succeed the 93-year-old leader. In a statement this morning, it says it's made significant progress in its operation to target "criminals" close to President.
