Mtwalume man to be sentenced for kidnapping, rape of young girl

The Pietermaritzburg High Court will hand down its sentence on Wednesday in a child rape and murder case.

This after a Mtwalume man pleaded guilty on Monday to the attack on his six-year-old niece, Emihle Nyawose, on the south coast.
Nkanyiso Radebe kidnapped the child last month, after her mother sent her to a local shop.

He told the court that he asked the girl to follow him on a different route home.
Family and community members were devastated when her body was found later in a pit.
"A 27-year-old man pleaded guilty in the Pietermaritzburg High Court yesterday (Monday) to the kidnapping, rape and murder of his six-year-old niece on 12 February 2023. The incident took place in the Mtwalume area near Umzinto."
