Msunduzi's been placed under administration and a thorough probe's been ordered by KZN Cooperative Governance into allegations of fraud and corruption against high-ranking officials.

Ross Strachan, who lives in Prestbury, says this has happened before.

In 2010, COGTA moved in after financial problems surfaced.

Strachan says they're happy that something is being done to turn the situation around now. He says they've been plagued by service delivery problems for the past year and a half.

"We have been here before and we don't have any confidence in the City at the moment in anything changing unless we change the current leadership. Those are the feelings on the ground. The people of Msunduzi and Pietermaritzburg are tired of a lack of service delivery. So we will wait and see. Hopefully, it's a good step," he said.
