Msunduzi Municipality urges residents to pay up
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
Residents of Msunduzi are being urged to continue paying for municipal services.
Deputy Minister of Public Service and Administration Sindi Chikunga is in uMgungundlovu to follow up on the implementation of government's District Development Model.
Msunduzi said at the end of August this year, more than half of the R4.6 billion debt had been owed for more than a year.
It says this has hindered service delivery.

Chikunga says the municipality, which is still under administration, has a plan to recoup the money, starting with revenue collection.
"Municipalities will not be able to render any services to people around the municipality if they can't collect revenue from the same people," she said.
"They are improving revenue collection but there are areas that require some improvement. Issues for maintaining, for instance, the infrastructure."
