Msunduzi could knock down bad buildings

Msunduzi has identified 28 buildings in the local municipality as derelict and unsafe.

The municipality spokesperson, Ntobeko Ngcobo says some buildings along Maritz Street are being used as dumpsites while others are poorly maintained and overcrowded with illegal businesses.

"These buildings are contributing to the City's inability to attract and return investment because of the way they look. It shows that these buildings are not being maintained."
She says they are to establish the way forward.

"We are not at this stage saying the properties will be demolished, that will be determined by the profiling which we are currently busy with."
Ngcobo says once the profiling is done an application to court will be made.
