Msizi Mbutho gets life sentence for killing Sandile Ndlovu

A 29-year-old man has been jailed for life after pleading guilty to the murder of Durban University of Technology (DUT) student, Sandile Ndlovu.
Msizi Mbutho was arrested in October.

Ndlovu, who was a first-year student, was bludgeoned with a hammer and stabbed inside a lecture hall in September.
His cell phone and laptop were stolen. Ndlovu succumbed to his injuries after several days in ICU.
Mbutho was sentenced on Monday in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
He also received a further 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

NPA spokesperson, Natasha Kara says they welcome the sentence.
"The National Prosecuting Authority in KZN really does welcome the conviction and sentence in this matter."
"We are pleased to see that the courts are taking such a firm stance on matters where there are attacks on students on university campuses," she said.
