Mpumalanga crash claims lives of 8 pupils

Eight pupils died when the minibus they were travelling in overturned on the D267 between Mayflower and Dundonald in Mpumalanga.
The accident happened on Wednesday afternoon.
It is understood that a Toyota Quantum transporting 18 pupils from school lost control and crashed.
Mpumalanga Community Safety spokesperson Moeti Mmusi says ten others were transported to hospital with various injuries.

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula conveyed his condolences to the family.
“It is with a great sense of sadness that I learned of the passing of such young lives on our roads. I send my sincere condolences to their families and wish a speedy recovery to those who sustained injuries. As committed in Parliament recently, we are doubling our efforts to make our roads safer,” said Mbalula in a statement.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
