Motsoaledi unveils plans to open Home Affairs offices at malls
Frustrations over long queues and technical glitches at Home Affairs
offices could soon be a thing of the past.
Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has unveiled plans to open offices in shopping malls across the country to take pressure off their existing branches.
"We will start with Menlyn Mall in Pretoria, Cresta Mall and Southgate Mall in Johannesburg, Pavilion in eThekwini and Tyger Valley Mall in Cape Town. It is hoped that Cresta Mall operation will help relieve their Home Affairs offices and the Pavilion will relieve pressure on the Umgeni Offices, which is often not well-spoken about,” he told MPs on Tuesday.
Motsoaledi tabled his department's R9.4 billion budget vote in Parliament.
"We've been engaging several malls in the country operating Home Affairs offices in malls will alleviate the problem of queuing in the sun or rain.

“Malls should provide safe parking for clients since the malls have to move tenants around to make way for Home Affairs. We will install our equipment in September.
“We shall start with the mall in Pretoria and roll out to the rest of the country.”
