Motorists flock to filling stations ahead of fuel price hike
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KZN motorists will today be heading to filling stations in their numbers to fill up their tanks before tomorrow's massive fuel price hike.

The Department of Energy announced yesterday that petrol will go up by 99 cents and R1,00 a litre at midnight.
Diesel users will cough up an addition R1,24.
The department says the increase is a result of the weakening Rand and higher international oil prices. Economist, Dawie Roodt feels the hike was expected.

"This will have a huge impact on the average consumer in South Africa and of course - add to the upward pressure on inflation. I'm afraid there isn't much that we can do about this.
"Of course, on an individual basis - you are supposed to have a proper budget, stick within your budget and expect unforeseen increases like an increase in the petrol price. Apart from that - there isn't much that an individual can do," Roodt said.
