Mosque community gathers outside Verulam Magistrate's Court
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
Congregants of the Imam Hussain Mosque have gathered outside the Verulam Magistrate’s Court ahead of the third appearance of 19 suspects arrested in connection with a knife attack at the mosque in May.
Abbas Essop died as a result of the violence while two other worshippers were wounded.
The group appearing today also faces charges related to the discovery of several incendiary devices around Durban earlier this year.
The deputy chair of the mosque, Ruwaida Shaik says they do not want them to get bail.

"We are here in support of our brother, Abbas, who was killed. We are opposing the bail application. We just want justice. At the end of the day, we are all fighting for humanity.
"They definitely don't deserve to be back in society. They deserve to be locked away for a very long time," Shaik said.
