Moses Mabhida seals future Comrades finishes
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium will serve as the Comrades Marathon finish for the down-run until at least 2025.
The Comrades Marathon Association says the state of the art facility lived up to its status on Sunday.
Chairperson, Cheryl Winn says about 19 000 athletes started the race - 16 000 of them crossed the finish line within the 12-hour cut-off time.
"We experienced absolutely fantastic co-operation from the Moses Mabhida Stadium management. For instance, we didn't even have to construct a medical tent - our entire medical tent facility was housed in underground parking. It's just a more modern facility, it offers more opportunities for us. That's something we are able to pass on to our runners. It was a fantastic day and everyone enjoyed it," Winn said.

Next year's up-run will finish at the Scottsville racecourse in Pietermaritzburg.
KZN Tourism said in the days leading up to Comrades 2018 that around R700-million would be pumped into the province's economy. Durban officials say hotels, guesthouses and entertainment attractions were packed over the weekend.
